With schools, a community centre, a library, shopping and more, River Park South is a vibrant, established community in southeast Winnipeg. Click here to view the area boundaries, courtesy of Qualico Communities.
Founded in 2017, the River Park South Community Association (RPSCA) consists of a group of community-minded volunteers who came together to help foster a sense of community and make River Park South an even greater place to live.
Though only recently established, the RPSCA is beginning to plan a number of initiatives to better our community, build community spirit and give our residents a voice. We are looking for volunteers to support our efforts. Please visit the Get Involved section or contact us for more information. With your support, we can grow the RPSCA and accomplish great things in our neighborhood!
Co-Chair – Janelle Berard
As co-chair, Janelle is thrilled to lead the RPSCA with Glenn and alongside the rest of the board. One of her favourite pastimes since moving to River Park South two years ago? Spending time outdoors, whether swimming, visiting a park or simply exploring the neighbourhood with her husband and two children. She is especially passionate about supporting our local businesses as much as possible.
Co-Chair – Glenn Churchill
A River Park South resident for over 25 years, Glenn is a transportation engineer/project manager with a strong desire to help the community. As co-chair of the RPSCA along with Janelle, he hopes to use the knowledge, skills and contacts he’s acquired over the years – as well as existing area resources – to better the neighbourhood. Glenn is also a die-hard hockey fan, rooting for both the Jets and Oilers.
Secretary – Josée-Anne Le Dorze
From its music festivals to theatre scene to restaurants, Josée-Anne loves everything Winnipeg has to offer. An avid fan of the great outdoors, Josée-Anne and her family moved to River Park South in September 2015. She looks forward to helping increase the spirit of celebration and pride in the neighbourhood – and keeping the RPSCA organized – as RPSCA secretary.
Treasurer – Dave Rheault
A new addition to the area, Dave works in IT for Caisse Financial Group. Prior to volunteering as the RPSCA’s treasurer, he spent 10 years as a town councillor in St. Claude and hopes to bring that sense of small-town pride to River Park South. He counts playing guitar, enjoying summer activities like fishing and biking, and making spreadsheets among his favourite activities.
Fundraising director – James Stefishen
James is a licensed realtor who has called River Park South home for two years, after living in St. Vital for 19 years. James can’t wait to work with both residents and local businesses in his role as RPSCA fundraising director. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing (whether on a boat or on ice) and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Special events director – Eva Trachtenberg
Eva is a busy mother of four who recently moved to River Park South with her family. As the RPSCA’s special events director, she hopes to plan events that can help bring the neighbourhood together. On top of her penchant for event planning, Eva has an appreciation for Winnipeg summers, a good dessert and martial arts (not necessarily in that order).
Volunteer director – Claudia Singh
A relatively new member of the River Park South community, Claudia is responsible for coordinating volunteer activities for the RPSCA. For her, nothing beats a Winnipeg summer – especially when swimming and sitting on a patio with a glass of wine. Claudia is also the proud owner of a dog, Devon, and a cat, Isaac.
Website director – Lauren Himbeault
Responsible for the RPSCA’s website, Lauren is a software developer currently working on a web application for a local company. New to the area, she is excited to meet more of her neighbours and get more involved with the community. Lauren and her husband can often be found in their Lego-themed room full of building blocks and models.
Communications director – Andrea Danelak
A communications professional by day, Andrea also runs a freelance writing and editing business. She moved to River Park South with her husband (and three cats) three years ago, and loves all of the green space in the area. When she’s not acting as the RPSCA’s resident word nerd, Andrea enjoys B-list zombie movies and all things Disney.
